Pre CanSkate & CanSkate - Learn to Skate

PreCanSkate is a program used to instill the love and comfort of skating. Skaters will be encouraged and captivated to learn the foundational basic building blocks required to develop on the ice. This will be facilitated in a structured, safe and positive learning environment. This program is designed for skaters aged 3 and up.

PreCanSkate sessions are a shorter 30 minute group lesson taught by our professional coaches with the assistance of our clubs Program Assistants. Upon completetion of PreCanSkate skaters will be moved in to the CanSkate program. Movement to the CanSkate program will be ongoing throughout the season.  Parents will be contacted by a coach to facilitate this move.

Exciting news - CanSkate just got better!!

Skate Canada has developed a new CanSkate program based on Sport Canada's Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.  Exciting new features include a fresh new look, new awards, great tools for coaches and most importantly a tested and proven new curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster.  But there's more! The new program also includes specific skills that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating.  The result is a dynamic new program that prepares all skaters for virtually every ice sport.  Skater progress is monitored and documented and badges are awarded when specific skills are mastered. Instruction is provided by both program assistants and NCCP certified coaches.  Our CanSkate program is for skaters 3+ that have some experience on the ice looking to improve thier skills.

HELMET POLICY:
ALL CANSKATE & CANPOWER PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CSA APPROVED HOCKEY HELMET
SKATERS WITHOUT A HELMET WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE DURING THAT SESSION
